Prerequisites

If you have not already installed the CodeSonar plug-in for Eclipse, install it now.

Results for an analysis can only be imported by a user with the following permissions.

• ANALYSIS_READ, ANALYSIS_TERMINATE, ANALYSIS_WARNING_EXISTS, and ANALYSIS_WARNING_READ for the analysis.
• Global permissions G_LIST_PROPERTIES and G_LIST_USERS.

If special user Anonymous does not have these permissions, you will need to authenticate the import operation as a hub user account that does have them (and also has G_SIGN_IN and G_SIGN_IN_PASSWORD).

Importing an Analysis

To import an analysis of the current project:

1. Select CodeSonar > Enable > Import Analysis Results.
   A dialog will open, requesting an Analysis URL.
2. Enter the URL of the analysis you want to import.
   • This is the URL of the corresponding web GUI Analysis page.
   • The general form of the URL is

     http://hub_location/analysis/analysis_id.html
     

3. Click OK.
4. If a hub authentication dialog is presented, enter your hub user account username and password and click OK.
   The hub authentication dialog will not be presented if you have already configured a suitable authentication type and credentials in the hub connection settings dialog.
5. The CodeSonar plug-in will proceed with the import.
   • If there is a problem with the URL (for example, because it does not correspond to an existing CodeSonar analysis), the dialog will display an error message explaining the problem. Make any necessary changes to the specified URL and then click OK again.
   • Otherwise, the CodeSonar plug-in will import the analysis and open an Analysis Report view to display analysis information.

Examining an Imported Analysis

The plug-in functionality for viewing analysis results applies to imported analyses just as it does to analyses performed by the plug-in.

• The Analysis Report view provides information about the analysis and its results.
• Warning views provide detailed information about individual warnings.
• Warning markers and highlighting are overlaid on source listings.
  Note that warning markers and source code navigation functionality are applied to the local copies of source files. These local copies may not be identical to the files analyzed by the imported analysis, so the locations of imported markings and navigation targets may not coordinate directly with local file contents.

Note that results from other languages (beyond C, C++, and Java) can be imported and viewed in Eclipse.

Alternatives

As an alternative to importing analyses, you can view their information in the web GUI.

• The Project page includes a table summarizing all analyses of a project.
• Click a table entry in the Project page to view the corresponding Analysis page.
• The web GUI also supports searching for analyses.
