If you are viewing this file in your hub's Web GUI, enable JavaScript in your browser: you will also need it for GUI functionality.

If you opened this file directly from disk, your browser may be directly suppressing JavaScript functionality: certain browsers perform this suppression on local files (but not files delivered by web servers) for security reasons.

If you access the manual through the hub's Web GUI, the functionality will not be suppressed because the hub is a web server.
Alternatively, your browser may allow you to explicitly disable the security setting that suppresses functionality. See the CodeSonar FAQ for more information.

Task: Create a New, Empty Project

CodeSonar provides functionality for explicitly creating a new, empty project through the Web GUI. There are two main use cases for this functionality:

you want to set up permissions for the project in advance of any analyses of the project, or
none of the users who will be analyzing the project have permission to create a project.

You will need the following permissions to add a new project as a child of project tree T.

PTREE_READ T to access the Project Tree page for T.
PTREE_ADD_CHILD T to add the new project to T.

Create a New, Empty Project

To create a new project, proceed as follows.

If the CodeSonar Web GUI is not already open, open it now.
If you are not already signed into a hub user account that has sufficient permissions for this task, sign in now.
Decide on a name for the project.
Note that project names must be unique: the new name cannot be the same as the name of an existing project for which you have PROJECT_EXISTS permission.
Decide on a parent project tree for the project.
Navigate to the Project Tree page for the project tree you chose in the previous step.
(If you are adding the new project as a child of the hub's root project tree, it is sufficient to navigate to the hub Home page.)
Click the Create Project link under the page heading. The page will expand to provide more functionality, as shown below.
Enter the name of your new project in the New Project Name field.
Click Create.
If CodeSonar successfully creates a new project, it will print a confirmation message above the page heading and update the table of projects and project trees to include the new project (note that the visibility of the corresponding table row will depend on your table pagination, table sort order, and Visible Projects setting).
Otherwise, it will print an error message above the page heading to explain why project creation was unsuccessful. Possible issues are:
- You do not have permission to create a new project.
  If you believe you should have this permission, make sure you are signed in to your hub account. If you are signed in and still unable to create a new project, check with your hub administrator to make sure you have correct permission settings.
- There is already a project with the specified name (and you have PROJECT_EXISTS permission for that project).
  Retry with a different project name.
- You specified an empty name, or one that consists entirely of whitespace.
  Retry with a name that contains at least one non-whitespace character.
