Task: Save A Named Search

CodeSonar allows you to save search criteria for your frequently-executed searches with a name of your choosing. Once a named search is saved, it is available in the Visible Warnings selector.

Method

  1. Carry out a search using your desired criteria. If necessary, refine the search until it is exactly the way you want.
  2. On the Warning Search Results page, click the Save This Search link. The Save form will open, as in the annotated example below.

  3. Check that the search scope, conditions and Visible Warnings are what you expected.
  4. Enter a name for the saved search in the text field.
  5. If you want to overwrite an existing saved search with the same name, select overwrite.
  6. Click Save.

Example

If you frequently want to ignore all warnings except those that have been assigned to you, it is useful to have a named search that finds only warnings with your name in the Owner field. To do this:

  1. Carry out an advanced search for warnings whose Owner field contains your name.
  2. Check the search results to make sure that the search behaved the way you expected.
  3. Click the Save This Search link and enter a meaningful name such as "Warnings I Own" in the dialog that opens.
  4. Click Save.
